Keter saper nih...?

Dah berbulan2 kereta nih ada kat parking.... tak bergerak pun... Yang anehnya, tiap kali kereta nih dah mula berabuk, ada lak orang yang membersihkannya...

Siapa punya kereta nih huh...? Kalo tak pakai, bagilah sesapa pinjam (bagi pinjam kat gua kaaa...). kan ker best camtu...? hehe...

ataupun, this car belongs to one of those people who had to leave Dubai in a hurry due to the economic crisis... sebab "melarikan diri" dari hutang2 yang tak terbayar.... There has been a lot of those cases on the recent months due to the economic crisis...

But then, ada lak orang yg datang membersihkan kereta nih.... hmm... anyhow... you see a lot of this type of cars in Dubai... masing2 nak bergaya agaknya... kat parking kat rumah pun ada banyak menimbun... BMW ler, Porsche ler... Maserati ler.... Kita admire jer ler dari dlm kereta kita...

One day, I will own this kind of car...!! hehe....

Buah... buah... buah...!!

A few interesting things happened in the office the past few weeks... The employees have noticed that Tariq (my immediate boss) has not been so much involved in the on-going activities with customers... not involved and not interested basically.... dia kerap lak balik awal... then semakin kerap ambik sick/emergency leave...

Dan si Jessica, boss kepada si boss tuh, tetiba very the friendly and more communicative and involved in our day to day tasks....

You can definitely guess what is happening.... walaupun secara official masih belum ada apa2 announcement, everybody is speculating and sure at 90% that Tariq is leaving the company... (notice period 3 bulan tuhhhh....!!!)

early this week, we had 2 kwailos who came to the office early morning to have meeting/interview with Jessica (well at least one of them came for an interview, coz he told me so when he arrived to the office. We are sure that the other one also came for the same purpose...)

Biasalah si makcik Jessica nih... bukan sahaja kedekut, malah very secretive... hahaha...!! ("boss bashing" kejap...). Tetiba jer kang dia bagitahu that somebody would be joining us in the office...

Well, we'll see in a few weeks... meanwhile Tariq is on his annual leave for 3 weeks... and Jessica is on Christmas holiday... Bermaharajalela lah di opis...!! haha... Ouh ya..., a new colleague will join us next week Mon... seorang lagi jurujual yang akan handle Banking division... Huaaa... never offer me one huh....? I used to handle banking smart card products before leeeyyyy...

Talked to Jessica about it about a month ago, asked her if I could actually apply for the position (Sales - banking products, didn't know then that somebody was alrdy hired for that position), and she told me that she thought about it (asking me to handle banking products)... But she didn't want to disrupt the current business activities that I am handling, and the relationship that I have built with the business prospects.... Huaaaa... like that huh...? Sure or nooootttt...? So the very diplomatic answer... haha...

In the office lak... tetiba jer si Jessica is concerned about our health... So sebagai seorang boss yang bertanggungjawap, maka dia suruh Dina beli buah2an setiap hari Ahad for us to eat during the week... Mesti habiskan within the week itself... So got banana (dah abis...), apples (green & red) and oranges... Buah yang tak abis kena bawak balik rumah, no spill over to the following week... For next week, bebudak tuh (including me... haha...) requested for grapes, and more banana... (me don't fancy apples)... Kena cari buah2an yang lain for the coming weeks... any suggestions...? Pear? Plum? Nectarine? Pineapple? Mandarin? This is becoming interesting...!(err... durian tak leh, kena banned alrdy... haha... lagipun mahai nak mampuih : AED90 per kg...!!).

Dan oleh kerana si Jessica, (boss dari belanda yg terkenal dgn perangai "berkira ya amat" selama nih) tetiba bertambah2 mesra dgn bebudak opis dan bertambah2 baik hati, maka bertambah2 confident ler bebudak opis meramalkan yang si Tariq dah nak ciao...

Hmmm... Tariq was not a good manager, I think... Micro managing to the extreme... It took me some time to adapt myself to his style of working... (nak buat camna, dia boss...). But I am not sure that I am totally happy if he goes away... I start to hate changes... Kalo ada boss baru, kena tukar working style again... Dunno laaa... Could be good though, like before.... a boss who does not care how you achieve your objective, but who will push and motivate you to achieve your objective... and if you have pbms achieving your objective, you can come and see him/her to discuss/find ways how to achieve your objectives... In a nutshell, a leader... a true inspirational leader.... (I wanna work for Obama...!!!!!! haha...)

Selamat Menyambut Hari Natal...!!

ciao cincau bacau... :D

Bila kawan nih balik dari SIN, dia belikan 2 botol besar kicap nih....!! ha kau....!! kalo tak puas2 jugak makan nasi berkicapkan kicap manis kelapa udang nih, memang sajer laaaa....!!

anyhow, toche... toche....!! tq for the stuffs bro...!! :)

Sayangnyeeerrrr....!!!

Kete Porsche kat bawah nih belongs to one of the tenants in the building... parking space dia right in front of my own parking space.... Memang sumber inspirasi lah supaya berjaya suatu hari nanti utk memiliki kereta yang sedemikian ruper....
semalam, turun ke parking, tengok2 keter nih dah kena "bungkus"... siap bereben2 lagi kat pemegang pintu dia...

malah ada sejambak bunga ada kat atas bonet keter tuh....!!! Huaaaa...!! So lucky oneeeee....!!! Somebody is so the very sayaaaaaang kat dia....!! haha.... memang bertuah mamat nih...!! Nih kes tengak mabok bercintan cintun ler nih....!! :D

hmmm... dunia... duniaa..... anyhow, congrats to the owner, and the person who did this to the car....!! Wishing both the best of luck....!! :)

eh eh.... ker nih keter santa...? dia dah chucked away the sledge and go for Porsche...? senang dan cepat.... nih persiapan sempena nak menyambut Krismas ker...? but then, kereta camni pun, kalo kat Dubai, tak kemana gak... sangkut kat traffic jam... kuang kuang kuang....!!! :D

Customer Service – AirAsia style

I would be going back to KL end March, cuba naik AirAsiaX ler… abis tuh, dah dapat tiket murah ya amat, sapa tak nak balik…? Betoi tak…? Sekarang nih dah start planning2 dah utk cuti 3 bulan lagi… Realized one thing… camna nak pegi airport Abu Dhabi huh…? Kalo naik teksi, it would cost about AED250… hmmm tertanya2 kalo ada cara yang lebih murah… Etihad does provide a bus shuttle service from Dubai to Abu Dhabi airport, was wondering if AirAsiaX does the same….

So gua hantar lah email inquiry di bawah at AirAsia website… :

  • Is AirAsiaX operating a bus shuttle service from Abu Dhabi airport to Dubai city centre? if yes, what is the time table for the service and what is the cost of the ride?
  • If AirAsiaX is not operating a bus shuttle service from Abu Dhabi airport to Dubai city centre, can passengers use the service of Etihad shuttle (Abu Dhabi airport - Dubai city centre) at a fee?

I think the above questions are quite straight forward. Anyhow, at the website, it was written that I would get a respond within 5 working days… (sebab depa sibuk dgn depa punya anniversary promotion). Well after nearly 2 weeks of wait, I received the below mail today

Dear Mr Johan,

We thank you for writing in on us. (no sweat…!! It was a pleasure… Btw, “writing in on us”… was that “Manglish”?)

For immediate assistant in regard this matter, Kindly please contact our call center deprtment for immediate solution. The Number you should call is :603-21719333(Malaysia +8 gmt) open from 8.00am till 10.00pm (What…? To get a simple feedback from your side, I have to call all the way to Malaysia? You don’t even know what your company can and cannot do? And since you don’t know the answer and don’t bother to check with your counterpart in Abu Dhabi, you tell the customer to call the Customer Careline in Malaysia? Huaaa… pandainyer Taichi…? Black Belt level 7 Dan one huh you…? I am sending an email because it will give you time to check instead of me holding on the phone for 1 hour to get an answer. I don’t care who will answer the email, but since at your website, all queries are sent to Customer Care in Malaysia, so, silalah jawab dan beri penerangan…)

Hope with this explanation may helps you. (huh…? How did your “no-answer” could have helped me moroon….??)

Thank you and have a good day. (I was having a good day until I got your mail)

Kind Regards,
Mohd Farid
Customer Care
Airsaia Berhad

Frankly, I thought that I would avoid the “forever bad” customer service in UAE by sending this email (to avoid the annoying rude and stupid answers when you call any customer call centre in UAE). But receiving this kind of feedback from a company based in Malaysia is really disappointing.

Anyhow, pls also note the disclaimer at the bottom of the email :
This mail and any files transmitted with it are confidential and intended solely for the use of the individual, entity or company to whom they are addressed. (only for me to read huh…? My friends cannot read meh?). If you have received it in error please accept our apologies and notify the sender (details above). The unauthorised use, disclosure, copying, alteration or dissemination of any information in this message is strictly forbidden (ouh shaitttt….!!! I shouldn’t have posted a copy of the mail in my blog…!!! Ouh my….!!! So, ekcelli huh En Farid… you can also say all sorts of stupid things in your email, and/or even write profanities, but if I reveal it to other people, you have the right to sue me huh….? Hmmmm….. )

Alaaa… sebab dah bengkek dpt stupid email cam kat atas tu, mulalah kita mencari all the small mistakes to highlight… biasalah kaaaannnn….???

First, level of customer service memang hancur berderai (wondering why he was not properly trained, macam tangkap muat jer… mengcukupkan quota bumiputra ker…?)

And secondly, English dia pun punah ranap….Hmmm….

I wonder how I can send the above email response to Tony Fernandez... Comment/ Post kat blog dia kaaa…? Would be interesting to see his response/reaction... keh keh keh...!!!

Jejak Rasul ker...? :)

Sempena dah dapat bisness dari Ethiopian Telecommunications Company nih, maka kenalah pegi jumpa depa from time to time.... Sebenonya, pegi nih kira macam suicide mission ler... sebab masa tender nego, mati2 kata everything can do...! Sagem Orga boleyyyy...!!! Tapi bila dah dapat PO, baru pecah rahsia that we actually can't really deliver the goods as per the requested dates... Memang akan kena denda lah nanti... But before that happens, customer dah jumping up and down dah sebab menanyakan bila masanya Sagem Orga akan anto kad2 SIM tuh... Siap dah tuduh menuduh yang Sagem Orga is purposely delaying the delivery of the cards....

So, sebagai orang yg bertanggungjawab menjaga customer nih, kenalah pegi jumpa customer menghulurkan tengkuk utk disembelih dgn machete afrika (parang afrika).

Keluar rumah jam 6.00pagi

Kat airport Dubai, flight jam 8h30 pagi.... Suasana gelappppp jer kat boarding room tuh... abih tuh, 80% of the passengers are all black... :)

Bila dah sampai, terus pegi makan dgn local partner. Interesting enough, the Ethiopian food is very spicy... I like...!! :D

Appetizer dia, makan roti bun cicah sambal. Ada 2 jenih sambal... dua2 memang kaw2 pedas... and sedap... ala2 makan sambal belacan la...

Ini roti depa... not made of rice, wheat neither. Di buat drpd sejenih bijiran tempatan... dunno what's the name of that cereal... Spongie texture, rasanya biasa2 jer... Tawar no taste like most bread...

Roti yg kat atas tuh, dicecah makan dgn daging lembu pedas nih...!! really sedap, rasa kari ada, rasa tomato pun ada... daging masak tomato & cili agaknya... hehe....

This is how Addis Ababa looks like (outskirts of Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia).. Ethiopia is big, so the climate changes from one city to another... Kat Addis Ababa, average temperature is 27degre C... Pleasant... Masa kat Addis Ababa hari tuh, a storm was brewing... Nampak awan camtu, torengat eden kat kampung eden nun....!! :)

Above photo is in front of "African Union" Hq.

Mtg went well, dan eden tak disembelih, malah dgn skill communication eden, customer dari marah, boley terus jadi tak marah... at the end of the mtg, boley siap ketawa2 lagi....!! (Depa tak tau, depa dah kena goreng lagi sekali....!! ahaks...!!).

Lepas mtg, pegi kat satu shopping centre nih. Local partner/agent bawak pegi minum kopi a la Ethiopienne... at one corner of the shopping centre, ada makcik nih tengah brewing coffee... dia masak air, dan buat kopi utk customers yang duduk in a circle on stools... Kira ala2 style kampung la, masak air kat tengah, and serve coffee to everybody surrounding the "bonfire"... boley...? At the same time, dia bakar kemenyan arab utk mewangikan the surrounding area... nice, I like...!! Very the local experience

Ethiopia is one of the main producers of coffee in the world... dan kopi yg eden minum kat sini, memang sodap...!!! One hepi customer....

Depa serve kopi tuh dalam cawan mangkuk macam minum teh jepun.... Malaun dlm gambo ateh nih, is the partner/agent of Sagem Orga kat Ethiopia... dah jadik kawan daaaa....

Sampai rumah balik jam 2h30pagi the following day... Koyak badan dibuatnya....!! (flight time was 4hours going, 4 hours coming back).

Interesting things to know about Ethiopia :
  • what was once known as Habshah is now Ethiopia, Eritrea and south of Sudan (remember that Nabi Mohammed S.A.W asked some of the early Muslims to seek refuge in Habshah when the Quraish where chasing to kill them...? These people were asked to go to Habshah because the Christian King of Habshah was known to be a fair King then).
  • 60% of Ethiopians are Christian (Orthodox Christian), and 38% Muslim
  • Ethiopians speak Amharic (in general...., but there are also some other local dialects), and they write in Ge'ez (or also known as Ethiopic)... It's their own Ge'ez alphabets..., and they have their own Coptic calendar (with 13 months, not 12...!!)
  • They also have their own clock system, and careful...!! their clock is 6hours late/in advance. 12midnite normal clock is 6 o'clock for Ethiopians. so basically, in Ethiopian clock, they start work at 2 o'clock (8am), and finish work at 11 o'clock (5pm)... boley camtu...? pusing kepala memikiokannyer... :D
  • Eritrea & Ethiopia were one country before, until Eritrea broke away from Ethiopia

anyhow, these people are very very friendly and wonderful people... No wonder Nabi Muhammad S.A.W sent the early Muslims to Habshah last time.... Err.. going there again end Jan 2010... and planning to stay back one day to jalan2 a bit... :D

almost forgot another thing, the Emirates flight flew from Dubai, to Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), and continued its journey to Entebbe... The return flight came of course from Entebbe, stopped in Addis Ababa, before continuing its journey to Dubai... Tertanyo2 eden... kat mano tompatnyo Entebbe nih (pronounced as N-te-be)... sampai rumah terus Google... laaaa... Capital city of Uganda la "ngok"...!!! Haaa... sekarang dah tak "ngok" daaa....!! :D

Emirates Airlines - ICE new feature

Tak la lama sangat gua tak naik Emirates Airlines... the last one was early November... atau may be I have not gotten onto Emirates Airlines punya latest aircraft....? (tiap kali outstation, dapat flight yg dah berusia...).

Had to go to Ethiopia last week... suicide mission, menyerah tengkuk ker customer.... (that would be another topic to talk about in this blog...hehe...)... so, took Emirates flight early morning (8h30am).... Interesting ICE features on board Emirates (ICE = information, communication, entertainment). Depa dah tuko semua features.... more movies, more tv series, more sitcom, more music.... memang dahsat lah...!!
above is what you normally see before....

now, they have added this feature... gambo kapal terobang tuh kiranya 3 dimension la (not plain flat on the screen anymore).... siap ada gambo bebayang dia sekali....!! kan ker kelesss gitu...!!! (gambo kat ateh tuh, is the aircraft crossing the straights of Aden.... tempat yang kapal2 selalu kena rompak dek lanun Somalia...!!)

nih gambo on the way back to Dubai.... it was a day trip, pegi pagi, balik malam.... touchdown kat Dubai was at 1h30am the following day... 4 hour flight going, go mtng, then 4 hour return flight... Nasib baik keluo mtg tuh masih idup lagi... Ingatkan dah kena sembelih dah...!! haha...

arricing back to Dubai from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.....

the new features : got USB port, got individual electricity power switch for your laptop, new handset console, bigger individual screen (with touchscreen capability)... ada tempat sangkut coat.... very businessman friendly, walaupun in economy class....

and of course, the forever my favourite.... lelangit kapal terobang tuh yang berbintang2 bila lampu2 kabin ditutup... bagaikan sedang tidur di bawah sinaran bintang2 lah....!! ("Ku petik bintang... bintang....!!" Kenny & Remy Martin... muahahaha....!!!)

Conclusion....? Can't wait to take Emirates again on long haul flights (on one of its new aircrafts)

It rained in UAE....!!

It rained in Dubai... Bukan sehari, tapi 2 hari berturut2...!! Happening....!! Depa kata, secara purata, it rains 5 days in a year in Dubai... Dah hujan 2 hari berturut2, tinggai 3 hari hujan ja lagi utk tahun nih laaa.... Can huh count like that....? Whatever it is, enjoy the hujan... Hujan renyai2 jaaa.... but enough to get you "children running" (berlari anak) from one place to another...

Errr... hujan 5 hari setahun...., hmmm... perlu ker beli payung....!!! :D

Ada visitor in town, so the usual Dubai Tour under the rain...

Fron inside the car, nampak hujan cam lagi "happening"... hehe...

SZR (Sheikh Zayed Road... jangan tak tau...!! :)) under the rain...

dangerous slippy road.... the first rains are always the most dangerous.... coz, jalan masih berbutir pasir, dan bila dicurahi hujan renyai2, ianya akan menjadi sangat licin... "Break tak makan".... Bila dah hujan lama, the road becomes less slippery.... (something interesting that I have learned while being in Dubai....)

Jimmy, si Pembunuh Udang

Sempena musim cuti2 hujung tahun yang dah mula nih, maka kita pun apa lagi... mood utk berfiesta lah...!! Fiesta makaaannnn....!!

Pegi "Jimmykillerprawns" ystdy and had a late lunch.... The food was good, the prawns were delicious, and the Cantonese rice was also suprisingly edible...

What is also interesting is that they also serve other seafood stuffs and some meat dishes... memang banyak pilihan... Tapi sebab dah pegi jumpa "Jimmy, si Pembunuh Udang", maka kita pun makan udang lerrr...!! :)
50 pieces of udang and fried rice... kalo tak cukup2 jugak memang ler korang lagi terer dari Jimmy, si Pembunuh Udang... muahahaha...!!:D

tengok tuh...? muka Imran tengah membaham udang, memang tak hengat dunia...!!! :D

Anyhow, one comment though, the udang tak ler sebeso mana... biasa2 jer...

Hmmm... finally....!!

What's the right expression for this....? "It's about time..."?... hmmm, not really, since I think that it has been long overdue.... Anyhow, tell me the right expression for this, pls...

Also interesting that the story was picked up from The Straits Times (Singapore), before being picked
up again by The Malaysian Insider...

Chinese-style mosques in three states

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 4 — Three new mosques with Chinese-style architecture will soon be built in three different states, in a bid by the government to win over the Chinese community.

The mosques, to be built in Rawang in Selangor, Malacca and Perak, will be ready in the next two years.

Like Malaysia's first Chinese-style mosque, which was completed recently in Kelantan, they will combine classic Chinese and Islamic architectural styles. Familiar pagoda-style roofs replace the usual domes alongside minarets.

And while sermons in mosques here are usually delivered only in Malay, they will be given in Malay and Mandarin at the three new mosques.

The government had given approval to the building of the mosques, said Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Mashitah Ibrahim, to help the Chinese community understand Islam better.

“It is a form of dakwah (spreading the message of Islam),” she told The Straits Times.

“We also want to get closer to the Chinese and help them to understand that Islam does not promote hatred towards other religions.”

Mashitah, who is in charge of Islamic affairs, added that the mosques will focus on promoting Chinese culture such as art, herbs and food.

The mosques, which are being funded by the government and the Chinese-Muslim community, will also organise non-religious festivities during festivals such as Chinese New Year and the mooncake festival. They are part of efforts to reach out to the Chinese people, many of whom believe that Islam imposes rigid rules on Muslim converts.

Many believe that embracing Islam would mean losing their racial identity and cutting ties with their family members.

Malaysian Chinese Muslim Association (Macma) president Datuk Mustapha Ma acknowledged this misconception among the Chinese.

“Perhaps it is our mistake for not doing enough to explain Islam to the community,” he said.

“But now, it will be easier for us as we can organise non-religious activities in Chinese mosques and invite the non-Muslims.”

According to Ma, the Chinese Muslim population has been growing, from only 57,000 a decade ago to an estimated 70,000 now.

Still, the community remains a minority among the Chinese, who make up 6.7 million of Malaysia's 28 million population.

The association had been asking the government to build Chinese-style mosques over the past 10 years, but their applications had been turned down.

One of the reasons, explained Datuk Abdullah Zin, religious adviser to the Prime Minister, was that the state religious authorities felt that there should not be various types of mosques as Islam promoted unity.

Some Chinese Muslims also said there was little need for such mosques and sermons in Mandarin.

“Most Chinese understand Malay here,” said Kedah teacher Ani Aishah Fatimah Leong Abdullah, 42.

Still, Macma's Ma believes that the building of the Chinese-style mosques could help to ease current racial tensions between Muslims and non-Muslims.

“We can show that Islam is a universal religion by building such mosques,” he said.

“Non-Muslims can attend non-religious activities there, and the mosques can be used by all Muslims, not only Chinese Muslims, for prayer.” — The Straits Times
