Honesty first: Cabbie returns Dh1.75 million

A taxi driver from Dubai who did not have money to even repair or replace his old mobile phone, has returned gold and cash worth Dh1.75 million left behind by a passenger.
On March 26, Ramin Khan, 45, dropped a passenger near the Gold Souq in Deira. But unknown to Khan, the passenger forgot to take his bag, which contained gold and a cash box, which he had put in the car boot.
It was his next passenger who alerted Khan about the open boot.
When he went to close it, he found the bag and the cash box. The cash, amounting to $40,000 (Dh147,200), and 15kg of gold items worth Dh1.6 million belonged to a Chinese trader.
The Pakistani driver immediately took the items to Taj Baksh, an official in charge of service quality of Arabia Taxi's 771-unit fleet, and later handed them over to the police.
A smiling Khan said: "I came here to do honest work. I can't feed my family with money that's not mine."
Khan, who hails from Peshawar, has five children. He previously worked as a driver for a family in Al Ain for eight years.
Mukhtar Ahmad, Arabia Taxi's Operations Manager, said: "Ramin is an honest man. We are all proud of him. God will also reward him. It's an example for all of us."
In his two years of service with Arabia Taxi, Khan has had an exemplary record.
He has found and returned three mobile phones, a luggage and a wallet containing Dh1,800 and 12,000 Indian rupees in cash. This despite not having enough cash to fix his second-hand Nokia 6230, which dies on him intermittently despite a fully charged battery. "I need to get it repaired," he admits.
The grateful Chinese customer rewarded Khan with Dh1,000, while his employers also pitched in with Dh1,000, besides giving him an appreciation certificate and displaying his jumbo-sized picture on the company's notice board.

ok... benefit of the doubt... this Ramin Khan from Peshawar (which Pakistanee Taxi driver is not from Peshawar, here in Dubai...?) must be a very honourable person...
but guys, don't be fooled... taxi drivers in Dubai are often unpleasant, rude, don't want to take you where you want to go... etc etc....
but then... in many countries, the taxi drivers are like that (including home sweet fome - Mesia)... Singapore taxi very good one you know...! don't prey prey...!! the only pbm that you would have is to find one during peak hour...

Yes, Taxi drivers is Dubai and Sharjah, alah senang the whole of UAE - are rude and obnoxcious.
A classic example of how hard life in Dubai/Sharjah/UAE is, which leave them with no choice but to work as a cab driver and not liking it. So they go about with thier work according to thier mood. Kalau kat Singapore for sure kena complain. Hmmmm...I'm beginning to think there are some positives in complaining. (Wait! B4 u comment... ;-)) But I'm not doing it (complaining) nor do I encourage it.

Dun go home late during festive seasons like Eve of Christmas, Chinese New Year etc etc, u'll have to wait a while to get a cab. Or better still enjoy thru the night then have a late supper wif friends until 5:30am then take the MRT to go back home. ;-) Again...I'm very proud of the transportation system of my country. :-D
